Machinist (Full-time)
ABOUT BIG TYRE
Big Tyre specialises in tyres, wheels and rubber tracks. Based in Toowoomba, we design, manufacture, rebuild, repair, and import world leading products to supply our customers. Providing goods and services to leading equipment manufacturers, dealers, and retail customers, we pride ourselves on quality and a high level of customer service. In fact, our manufactured goods are used in over 50 countries around the world. As a business, we are always seeking to break new ground and expand our business.
THE ROLE
Our team consists of about 20 people (including office and factory), and we enjoy working together in a professional and supportive environment. Our factory team includes production and maintenance staff to help keep the factory running smoothly and efficiently. This role will include both production and maintenance work.
The primary tasks will include the machining of steel, rubber and polyurethane for the general manufacture of goods. When time permits, the role will also include assisting in general maintenance and upgrade requirements under the direction of our senior Fitter and Turner. The equipment to be used in this role includes steel lathes of various sizes, a milling machine and a large vertical borer.
The preferred position is full-time (40 hours per week) to work in our Toowoomba factory from 6:30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. A paid rostered day off (RDO) is available about once a month. A part-time position could be considered for the right applicant if required.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- skilled in the machining of steel
- strong character values including honesty and reliability

- high mechanical aptitude
- good problem-solving skills
- an eye for detail
- show initiative
- take responsibility for your actions
- team player
- manual driver’s licence
- forklift licence or the willingness to obtain one
- non-smoker.
Experience in welding and the maintenance of industrial equipment is also highly desirable but is not considered essential.
