Customer Service & Sales

ABOUT BIG TYRE

Big Tyre specialises in tyres, wheels and rubber tracks, primarily for the agricultural and mining industries. Based in Toowoomba, we design, manufacture, rebuild, repair, and import world leading products to supply our customers. Providing goods and services to leading equipment manufacturers, dealers, and retail customers, we pride ourselves on quality and a high level of customer service. In fact, our manufactured goods are used in over 50 countries around the world.

THE ROLE

Our team consists of about 20 people (including office and factory staff), and we enjoy working together in a professional and supportive environment. Our sales staff are the face of our company, responsible for communications with customers, suppliers, and delivery companies.

The primary role of this position is communicating with customers and suppliers through phone calls, walk-ins, and email enquiries. Other components of the role include booking new jobs into the factory, invoicing customers and organising freight. As part of this role, you will also get to represent Big Tyre at agricultural field days and mining exhibitions at various locations around Australia, all expenses paid. Trip length ranges from about 5 days to 2 weeks, with a collective time away from home working out to about 4 to 6 weeks per year.

The position is full-time, working from our office in Toowoomba from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. A paid rostered day off (RDO) is available about once a month.

ABOUT YOU

No previous sales experience is required although experience in the tyre, agricultural or mining industries will be highly regarded. The following attributes are essential:

  • skilled at building rapport with customers and suppliers

  • good communication skills, written and verbal
  • an eye for detail
  • strong work ethic and drive with a positive “can do” attitude
  • good computer skills (experience using MYOB and Microsoft Office is highly regarded)

  • a medium rigid truck licence or the willingness to obtain one

Factory Worker (Full Time)

Big Tyre is seeking a motivated individual to join its team to work in the manufacture and repair of rubber and polyurethane products in its Toowoomba factory.

About the role

Our team consists of about 20 people (including office and factory), and we enjoy working together in a professional and supportive environment. Our team in the factory are the people we rely on to repair customer products and manufacture our high quality goods.

The primary responsibilities will vary but may include sand blasting, painting, operating lathes, mixing and pouring polyurethane, working with rubber, cleaning, and various manual activities.

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) to work in our Toowoomba factory from 6:30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. A paid rostered day off (RDO) is available about once a month.

About you

Experience in sand blasting, spray painting or operation of steel lathes will be viewed favourably and the following attributes are essential:

Maintenance Fitter

Our team consists of about 20 people (including office and factory), and we enjoy working together in a professional and supportive environment. Our maintenance and equipment development team are the ones we rely on to help keep the factory running smoothly and efficiently.

The role will include routine maintenance of equipment, equipment upgrades, new equipment installation, and even manufacturing unique equipment specific to our requirements.

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) to work in our Toowoomba factory from 6:30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. A paid rostered day off (RDO) is available about once a month.

ABOUT YOU

Experience in the maintenance of industrial equipment is highly desirable and the following attributes are essential:

  • trade certified as a Fitter and Turner
  • skilled in welding and machining
  • strong character values including honesty and reliability
  • strong work ethic and drive with a positive "can do" attitude
  • high mechanical aptitude
  • good problem-solving skills
  • an eye for detail
  • show initiative
  • take responsibility for your actions
  • team player
  • manual driver's licence

  • steam ticket or the willingness to obtain one
  • non-smoker. A truck driver's licence would be viewed favourably but is not considered essential.
